Sonic the Hedgehog is a series of platform games by Sega. He was created to compete with Nintendo's Super Mario Bros, as well as show off the faster processing speed of the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. Since then, he's starred in over 65 games, and despite a few missteps, he's still seen as a cultural icon, at one point being more recognizable than Mickey Mouse in his heyday.
